The Story
The name says it all: "Sarasara" is a Japanese onomatopoeia for something silky, smooth, and flowing (like a rushing stream). If you usually steer clear of nigori (cloudy sake) because you find it too sweet or syrupy, this bottle was made for you. It takes the beautiful, floral aromatics that Dewazakura is famous for and adds just a whisper of ricey texture. It’s light, breezy, and incredibly refreshing; a "ginjo lover's nigori" that prioritizes elegance over weight.
Tasting Profile
Aroma: Lively and floral, with the signature Dewazakura nose of sakura (cherry blossoms) and ripe melon.
Palate: Vibrant and clear. There is a faint touch of sweetness on the first sip, but the sprinkling of rice lees gives it a zesty texture rather than a heavy one.
Finish: Fast, crisp, and super clean.
Serving & Pairing
Serving Temperature: Chilled (unpasteurized, so definitely keep this one cold!).
Food Pairings: Because it isn't heavy, you don't need heavy food. It’s fantastic with fresh shellfish, or light salads, or anything spicy!
Why We Love It
We love this bottle because it breaks some of the rules of what people think nigori is. It isn't a dessert sake; it's a dinner sake. Sessionable and light, it drinks so easily that a bottle tends to disappear before you realize it. It’s fresh, fun, and has wide food pairing potential.

About the Brewery: Dewazakura
Located in Yamagata Prefecture, Dewazakura is a genuine legend in the sake world. Before 1980, Ginjo sake was rare and mostly just for competitions; regular people drank table sake with a rougher profile. Dewazakura changed history by releasing "Oka," an affordable, fragrant Ginjo that completely revolutionized the industry. They taught the world that sake could be fruity, floral, and elegant. They are also pioneers of cold storage techniques and are a huge reason why Yamagata is now known as the "Ginjo Kingdom" of Japan.
