Words from Di Wine on the producer:
Domaine Tetta cultivates eight hectares of vines in Okayama, Japan, using innovative white vinyl covers to protect against heavy rain and intense summer heat, creating an optimal environment for grape varieties like Chardonnay, Muscat Bailey A, and Koshu. This area, known for its limestone-rich soils, diurnal shifts, and humidity-clearing winds, offers ideal conditions for low-intervention winegrowing.
Ryuta Takahashi, the founder, transitioned from limestone mining to winemaking in 2009 after discovering abandoned vineyards in his hometown. Determined to revive the land's agricultural legacy, he established Domaine Tetta, prioritizing onsite production from vine to bottle. Unlike much of Japanese wine, which often relies on imported grape concentrate, Tetta represents a true "Domaine" approach.
The wines embody the essence of Tetta's unique terroir and Takahashi's vision for a sustainable viticultural future.
